HuntEdge Privacy Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

HuntEdge is a hunting map, field-record, weather, safety, and planning app. This policy explains how HuntEdge handles information.

Information stored on your device

HuntEdge stores field records, precise coordinates, routes, property boundaries, imported trail-camera photos, photo-strip results, harvests, gear, ballistic profiles, offline map tiles, settings, and saved AI results on your iPhone. This information remains on the device unless you deliberately share an export or use an online feature.

Location and weather

With permission, HuntEdge uses precise location to center maps, load weather, attach coordinates to records, and record an active Track Me route. Background location is used only during a Track Me route or live-location sharing that you start. Stop the route or sharing activity to stop its background updates; if both are active, stop both to end all background updates. Weather requests send coordinates needed to return local weather to the weather provider.

Private live-location sharing

When you start live sharing, HuntEdge sends your chosen display name and latest precise GPS position and accuracy to the HuntEdge service hosted by Cloudflare. A session lasts up to one hour. Private invitation credentials let the people you choose view your position inside HuntEdge; anyone with the invitation can use it, so share it carefully. There is no public location feed. Stale positions are hidden after two minutes. Stop Sharing stops GPS transmission immediately; if offline, server revocation retries when connectivity returns. Sharing does not restart automatically after the app terminates. Expired sessions become unavailable and are periodically deleted by the service. You can remove received sessions from the app.

Optional terrain warnings

Terrain warnings are off by default. If you enable them while tracking, HuntEdge sends your precise GPS position and four points up to 200 yards ahead to the U.S. Geological Survey elevation service to check for substantial climbs and descents. Checks can continue while tracking with the screen locked. Disable Terrain warnings or stop tracking to stop these requests.

Photos and on-device analysis

Photos selected for trail-camera records are stored locally. Photo-strip text recognition and animal suggestions use on-device Apple Vision features. HuntEdge does not send imported trail-camera photos to HuntEdge AI area analysis.

HuntEdge AI area analysis

AI area analysis runs only when you tap Capture & Analyze. It sends a captured image of the visible map, selected stand and map coordinates, current wind, and nearby sighting, scouting-note, and trail-camera text and coordinates to HuntEdge's online endpoint. The request is routed through Cloudflare and processed by OpenAI to return the requested analysis. Under OpenAI's default API controls, request content may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring unless different approved retention controls are configured. HuntEdge does not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Offline maps and Apple services

HuntEdge uses Apple MapKit for Apple map styles and U.S. Geological Survey services for topographic tiles. Public-land and hunting-area overlays also query official ArcGIS services using the visible map bounds. County parcel downloads use HuntEdge’s parcel service hosted by Cloudflare. Requests to these providers are governed by their applicable privacy practices.

Sharing and exports

HuntEdge creates CSV and ZIP exports only when requested. You choose the destination through the iOS share sheet. Backups can include saved photos, records, settings, and precise coordinates. Waypoint sharing exports selected waypoint names, types, and precise coordinates as GeoJSON through the app you choose; it does not include private notes or photos. GPX and GeoJSON imports are read on the device. The destination app or recipient handles shared files under its own practices.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete them in HuntEdge or delete the app. You can create a backup before deleting records. Online service providers may retain request and security information as described above and under their applicable service terms. To ask about online request data or request deletion where available, contact HuntEdge support.

Children, advertising, and tracking

HuntEdge does not create user accounts, display third-party advertising, sell personal information, or track users across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Security and policy changes

HuntEdge uses encrypted HTTPS connections for online requests and limits AI context to the visible map area. No electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. This policy may be updated as HuntEdge changes; the effective date above will be revised.
